Setting Up Streaming to Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn, Instagram, and More!
It's time to start your live stream! Here's a brief overview on how to connect your Meetn room to different streaming platforms and a few notes on them. This is general information, not complete in-depth guides to each platform.
Before you can stream to a destination, you need to open up the Stream Manager from the toolbar. Here's where you'll see your destinations and set up / start your stream. Click on Add Destination and follow the details below.
⚠ SUPER IMPORTANT ⚠: DO NOT play any unlicensed copyrighted content in your Meetn room while streaming to other platforms. Many sites like YouTube or Twitch automatically watch live streams for copyright infringements and you may lose your streaming privileges if you are flagged.
Meetn cannot help you in the event your streaming privileges are revoked from the third party sites.
YouTube
Streaming to YouTube is super easy! We already have YouTube fully integrated into Meetn. Add the YouTube destination and you'll be prompted to log in with your Google account. Simply log in here and choose which channel to add to Meetn (if you operate multiple channels).
⚠ Important Notes:
If you haven't streamed to YouTube before, you'll need to make sure your channel is eligible to stream. You can check on this by going to studio.youtube.com > Settings > Channel > Feature Eligibility. You'll need to make sure that you're enabled for level 2 intermediate features.
If the level 2 intermediate features are not enabled, streaming to YouTube will not work and give you an error message in Meetn when you try.
You can stream to your Facebook Profile and Pages very easily with Meetn. Just add either the Facebook Profile or Page destination to your Stream Manager, log in, and select which profile/page to add.
⚠ Important Notes:
Facebook Groups can no longer be streamed to. This was a change on Facebook's side and that feature has been deprecated.
Facebook Pages have minimum requirements to stream to. You must have a certain follower count before streaming is unlocked for that community.
If you do not see a specific page available in Meetn's stream manager when picking a page, you'll need to check that page's settings on Facebook to make sure it's allowed to be streamed to and that you have permission to stream to it. The location of these settings frequently changes, so you may need search around your settings.
RTMP Locations
All locations above have been fully integrated into Meetn, but that doesn't mean you can't stream to other locations! Any website or service that gives you access to the RTMP stream URL and key can be streamed to from Meetn.
In the Stream Manager, add an RTMP destination. Then you'll need to find the RTMP URL and Stream Key from the destination site.
Below are important things to note about each platform. This list is in no way comprehensive, but we'll continue to add to this article as we learn more or when platforms change their interface.
LinkedIn is a bit of a special case.
First thing to note is that you have to meet certain requirements, apply, and be accepted for streaming privilege on LinkedIn.
Once you're able to stream on LinkedIn, you can go to LinkedIn's stream manager to get your RTMP URL and Stream Key.
Finally, remember that LinkedIn changes your Stream Key every time you want to do a new live stream, so you will have to repeat all of the steps in adding the destination and sourcing the RTMP key from LinkedIn every time you want to stream to this site.
