Managing Meeting Disruptions and Reporting Illegal Activity
Disruptive attendees and online trolls are a huge drain on your personal energy and potentially can derail events. Fortunately Meetn has tools that you can use to keep your events on track and moderate or remove obstructing attendees.
Disruptions:
For disruptive attendees, say they're causing echoes or munching on a bag of chips, but you don't want them removed the meeting, you can always manually mute them from the Attendees panel. Simply open the Attendees panel, find that person, and click on their microphone icon to turn off their mic.
This also works for video or screen sharing, just click on the camera or screen icon next to their name to turn it off.
As the host, admin, or owner of the room, you can always turn off people's mic, camera, and screen share at any time without permission. However, if you want an attendee to turn on their mic or camera, clicking on their icons in the Attendees panel will prompt the user, asking them to turn on their device.
Manually Removing Attendees:
Now if you need to remove an attendee from your Meetn room, you just need to click on the triple dots next to their name in the Attendees panel, and choose to kick or block them.
Kicking a user will just sever their connection to the Meetn room, but will not prevent them from re-entering. This is useful if someone physically left their desk while still logged into the Meetn room or you admitted them from the waiting room too early by mistake.
Blocking a user will kick them and prevent them from re-entering the room. It's as simple as that. However, as the internet is a vast place with many technologies available, it may be possible for a tech savvy user to get around the block. In that case, you can use any of the features below to prevent further intrusions.
Finally, if a particular user is causing you grief repeatedly, please reach out to Support@Meetn.com with details of what happened, room name, event name/time, and the offending user's name.
⚠ Really Important Note:
If the Webinar Setting called 'Guests Have Extra Permissions' is enabled, the above functionality (muting and removing) will also be available to them too. This setting should only be enabled when you know or trust everyone in attendance won't abuse these powers.
Settings to Manage Entry:
If a user is repeatedly entering your room without permission and they've found a way around the blocking feature. You can enable any of the following settings at any time to lock down your event and protect your Meetn room:
- Waiting Room - The Waiting Room is always available to you in the Attendees panel and will prevent all regular attendees from entering freely. You'll have to manually accept them into the room. If someone is attempting to re-enter multiple times, do not decline their request, just let it sit there and you can safely ignore it. They'll catch on eventually.
- Passcode - The passcode setting in the Menu > Room Settings area can be enabled or changed at any time. You can enable it to prevent further access attempts or change it in case your event's passcode was leaked. It's a simple and powerful tool that's at your disposal. Note that only room Admins and the Owner can set or change Room Settings.
- Large Event Mode (LEM) - Changing your event to Large Event Mode in the Menu > Webinar Settings will make it so that all newly connecting attendees are no longer interactive. They will be able to watch the event as a live stream, but they won't have any ability to interact or potentially cause trouble. This can be turned on at any time and is useful for managing public events.
Reporting Offensive Users or Illegal Activity:
If you ever encounter a user acting or presenting illegal or particularly objectionable content, please don't hesitate to reach out to Support@Meetn.com. Any evidence you can provide will greatly assist our team in taking proper action.
