Understanding Webinar vs Meeting Modes
Webinar Mode (Also called Large Event Mode) and Meeting Mode seem relatively similar at a surface level, however they are powerful tools for specific scenarios. The short version is that Meeting Mode is for smaller (<50 people) more intimate meetings where anonymity is not required and trust among attendees is higher. Webinar Mode is for any size event where the guests need to be basically invisible to each other so their full focus can be on the presentation.
Meeting Mode:
The most important factor for Meeting Mode is that there is a hard limit on how many attendees you can have and attendees may be connected in either Interactive Mode or Large Event Mode (aka LEM). Currently the limit for interactive attendees is 50, though that will increase in a future update. The 51st attendee and after will be forced to join in Large Event Mode.
- Interactive Attendees are able to be unmuted, share video, audio, screen sharing, etc. This is the full virtual meeting experience, which can be tailored further using the Webinar Settings. Attendees 1-50.
- Large Event Mode Attendees are only able to watch the event live stream, similar to watching a live stream on YouTube or Instagram. Attendees 51+.
It's also important to note that the Webinar Settings do alter the experience for both Webinar/LEM Mode and Meeting Mode, so be sure to explore these settings and customize your events to your liking!
Webinar Mode / Large Event Mode (LEM)
This mode is labelled as "Large Event Mode" in the Webinar Settings and we at Meetn refer to this mode as Large Event Mode, typically abbreviating it as "LEM". This mode forces all guests to join in, as named, Large Event Mode, where they have limited features and interactivity. Hosts, Presenters, Admins, and the Owner will always join in interactive mode.
Guests in this mode will be limited to watching the livestream and won't be able to interact with each other like interactive guests would be. This is designed to help keep the focus of the event on the presentation. Additionally, there is a Webinar Setting to disable the attendance counter for the guests and hide guest names and profiles from other guests, so you can maximize anonymity and keep viewership statistics private.
Note: Unlike Meeting Mode, there is no minimum limit to LEM. All guests from the very first to the 1000th will all be in Large Event Mode when joining. Even if you're not expecting a large attendance, you're totally able to use LEM for any size events. This makes LEM a powerful tool for controlling your events on Meetn.
