Granting Camera and Microphone Permissions (Mac, Chrome, Firefox, Brave, etc)
Meetn requires access to your microphone at a minimum to be able to speak in meetings and access to your camera if you want to show your face (Optional). Additionally, you may need to allow access if you want to use screen sharing. Here are quick guides to be sure Meetn has access to your hardware.
⚠ Note: Mac users will have to grant permission on both the browser and MacOS System Settings.
Browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Brave, etc)
Normally when you first get to the Audio Video Settings page while logging into a Meetn room, your browser will ask you if you want to allow Meetn to access your mic and camera. Click Yes/Allow for these prompts.
In or next to your browser's URL bar, you'll see a button or icon that resembles a padlock, settings switches, or mic/camera icons. This is typically where you can quickly access the site settings. If you accidentally didn't allow access or you want to have your browser not ask you every time, click here to open up the permissions for the site.
You'll see switch sliders or a dropdown menu to allow or disallow the camera and microphone. Make sure they're set to allow. Some browsers will default to allow once or allow today, in that case you may want to dig deeper into these settings and make sure it's set to always allow.
⚠Note: The language around these settings is different for every browser, and often changes between versions. So it's difficult to nail down and write exact instructions for every permutation. That's why this guide is worded generally instead of explicitly.
MacOS
MacOS requires additional permissions to be granted to the browser first.
- This can be set quickly by clicking on the Apple icon at the top left of your screen.
- Choose System Settings / System Preferences.
- Go to Privacy and Security.
- Then find Camera and make sure your browser is enabled to use it.
- Repeat Step 4 for the Microphone
- Repeat Step 4 for Screen Sharing
